Lampėdžiai Beach is the most popular summer recreation spot for Kaunas residents on the Kaunas Lagoon. The beach is well-equipped: sandy shore, lifeguard posts, changing cabins, restrooms, beach volleyball and basketball courts. Sports events, music evenings, and other entertainment take place here in summer. The Kaunas Lagoon (6,350 ha) is the largest body of water in Lithuania, created by damming the Nemunas River. Nearby is the Kaunas Lagoon Regional Park with educational trails and a viewpoint. The beach is easily accessible by public transport from Kaunas center.
