Kretinga Manor is one of the oldest and most important manors in Samogitia, with a history beginning in the 16th century. The manor was owned by notable families – the Chodkevičiai, later the Sapieha and Masalski, and in the 19th century it was acquired by the counts Tyszkiewicz. The Tyszkiewicz family shaped the current manor complex: they built a new manor house, installed an orangery with exotic plants, and created a landscape park. The manor is famous for its winter garden, home to subtropical and tropical plants. Today, the manor houses the Kretinga Museum with history, nature, and art exhibitions. The manor park and botanical garden are popular destinations for visitors.
