Panemune Castle

A Renaissance castle on the Nemunas riverbank, one of Lithuania's most beautiful castles with a tall tower. The 17th-century castle is among the gems of the Nemunas Loops Regional Park.

Panemune Castle is one of Lithuania's most beautiful Renaissance castles, built in the early 17th century on the bank of the Nemunas River. The castle was built by Hungarian-origin nobleman Januš Eperješ, and later owned by several famous families. The castle features a tall tower offering panoramic views of the Nemunas valley. Its architecture combines Renaissance and early Baroque elements. The castle complex consists of four wings forming an enclosed courtyard. After extensive restoration, the castle was opened to visitors and functions as a museum and cultural event venue. The castle is one of the most important sites of the Nemunas Loops Regional Park.
