Siesikai Manor

Renaissance castle-manor ruins by a lake, one of the oldest masonry buildings in Aukstaitija. Built in the 16th century, the castle evokes the era of the Grand Duchy and its military history.

Siesikai Manor is one of the oldest masonry buildings in Aukstaitija, with a history dating back to the 16th century. The Renaissance castle-manor was built on a hill by Lake Siesikai as a defensive residence. The castle walls were thick, with loopholes and defensive towers, attesting to the turbulent times of that era. The manor was owned by several noble families over the centuries. Through wars and upheavals, the castle was damaged and gradually fell into ruins. Nevertheless, the surviving walls and tower fragments still impress with their massiveness and architectural form. The ruins of Siesikai Castle are a popular attraction for tourists and photographers.
