Tytuvenai Monastery Estate
A unique monastery and estate complex in Samogitia with a Baroque church and monastery buildings. Built in the 17th century, the complex is one of the most valuable sacral architecture sites.
The Tytuvenai Monastery Estate is a unique 17th-century sacral and secular architectural ensemble in Samogitia. The complex was founded by Franciscan (Bernardine) monks, who built a church, monastery buildings, and utility structures. The Baroque church is renowned for its ornate interior elements and frescoes. The monastery courtyard with its arcade gallery is reminiscent of Italian Renaissance architecture. During the Soviet era, the monastery was closed and the buildings were repurposed. Restoration of the complex began after independence was restored. Today, the complex hosts cultural events, concerts, exhibitions, and educational programs.
