Vilnius Sapieha Palace
A Baroque palace and park ensemble in Vilnius Antakalnis, built by the powerful Sapieha family. Built in the 17th century, the palace is one of the most important Baroque heritage sites in Lithuania.
The Vilnius Sapieha Palace is a 17th-century Baroque residence in the Antakalnis district of Vilnius, built on commission from the powerful Sapieha noble family. The palace complex was designed by Italian-origin architects and includes the main palace, outbuildings, and an Italian-style terraced park with fountains. The Sapieha Palace was one of the most ornate Baroque residences in Vilnius. In the 18th century, a hospital was established in the palace, which operated until the 20th century. Today, the palace and park are being restored and gradually returned to the public as a cultural space. The park is one of the few surviving Italian-style Baroque parks in Lithuania.
