Hillfort

Dubingiai Hillfort

A hillfort on a peninsula in Lake Asveja – the former center of the Radziwiłł family estates.

Dubingiai Hillfort stands on a peninsula in Lithuania's longest lake, Asveja (Dubingiai). It was one of the most important centers of the Radziwiłł family estates. In the 16th century, a stone castle stood here where Barbora Radvilaitė lived before becoming Queen of Poland. In 2009, archaeologists found the oldest known seal of Vytautas the Great at the foot of the hillfort. The hillfort offers wonderful views of the vast Lake Asveja. The site attracts both history enthusiasts and nature lovers.
