The Lithuanian Art Museum is the largest art repository in the country, founded in 1933 in Kaunas. Today its central headquarters operate in Vilnius, and its collections encompass over 230,000 artworks – from ancient Egyptian artifacts to contemporary Lithuanian art. The museum administers several branches: the Vilnius Picture Gallery, the Museum of Applied Arts and Design, the Palanga Amber Museum, and others. The collection covers painting, sculpture, graphics, applied art, numismatics, and photography. The museum actively conducts scholarly, restoration, and educational activities, and organizes international exhibitions.
