Sartai Regional Park, established in 1992, encompasses Sartai Lake and its surroundings in northeastern Lithuania. Sartai Lake is one of the largest in Lithuania (area 13.3 km²), famous for fishing and water sports. Every February, when the lake freezes, Lithuania's most famous horse races on ice take place here – a tradition dating back to the 19th century. The event attracts up to 30,000 spectators. The park includes the town of Dusetos with an old church and market square. The surroundings offer hiking, cycling, and birdwatching. In summer, the lake is popular among vacationers and fishermen.
