Orthodox Church of the Holy Spirit

The principal Lithuanian Orthodox church, housing the relics of three martyrs – Anthony, John, and Eustathius.

The Orthodox Church of the Holy Spirit is the most important Lithuanian Orthodox church, located in Vilnius Old Town near the Gates of Dawn. The first wooden church on this site was built in the 16th century, while the current stone building dates to the 17th century and later acquired Baroque features after reconstruction by J. Ch. Glaubitz. The church houses the incorrupt relics of three Vilnius martyrs – Anthony, John, and Eustathius – attracting pilgrims from around the world. The interior features a rich collection of icons and ornate wall paintings. The church serves as the center of the Lithuanian Orthodox Archdiocese and is one of the oldest Orthodox churches in Lithuania.
