Church of St. Peter and St. Paul

A Baroque masterpiece in the Antakalnis district with over 2,000 stucco sculptures in its interior. One of the most ornate churches in all of Lithuania.

The Church of St. Peter and St. Paul in Vilnius's Antakalnis district is one of the finest examples of Baroque architecture in Lithuania, built in 1668–1676 and funded by Grand Hetman of Lithuania Mykolas Kazimieras Pacas. The interior is adorned with over 2,000 stucco sculptures created by Italian masters Giovanni Pietro Perti and Giovanni Maria Galli. The sculptures depict biblical scenes, allegorical figures, angels, and floral motifs. The dome composition "War and Peace" is one of the most impressive Baroque artworks in Lithuania. The church is an active parish that attracts thousands of tourists from around the world each year.
