About

Anykščiai is a town made famous by Antanas Baranauskas's poem "The Forest of Anykščiai" (1858-1859). The Treetop Walking Path is the first of its kind in the Baltics and Eastern Europe: a 300 m path rises to 21 m height, with an observation tower reaching 34 m (with elevator for disabled). Won UN World Tourism Organization prize in 2016. Puntukas Stone is the second-largest in Lithuania (265 tons, 7 x 6 m), with Darius and Girėnas bas-reliefs. Anykščiai is Lithuania's wine capital: several local wine and cider producers operate here.
